Feel Good Friday

The Girl Next Door Grows Up started this Feel Good Friday meme. See lia sophia’s blog, ( the current hostess) for the Mclinky.

My happy day included receiving size 50 knitting needles in the mail. I won them in an auction on eBay. I love using e-snipe to minimize bidding wars.

In two hours I got 1/3 of a baby blanket finished —

And in 20 minutes I can make an eyelash lei —

I am having fun and it gets better. Soon I’ll be getting my first circular knitting needles.

Have your best day ever!

So many good things have been happening. Did you see this? OMG!

On a separate note, Holly over at Holistic Wellness With Holly Worton. had this post and my week has been so joyous since I took up her suggestion. Her posts are very good. I see them as a treat for myself and I am savoring my way through them. This one, it came at just the right time for me or something. Read it for yourself and See if it works for you too.

For me it catapulted me into doing more things I love, and one of my favorite side effects is I am too busy and happy to overeat.

Have your best week ever!

TRAVEL JAPAN End of the first day.

At the end of my first day in Japan, my tour guide Kiyo gave me this with her good wishes. I love that it has rainbow colored ribbon on it.

She also gave me this tiny frog.

It is only about 1/3 of an inch. Kiyo said to keep it with my money so anything I spend will hop back to me.

She was terrific, listening to me, getting me where I wanted to go and fitting it all in.

She left me in a shopping area, after showing me her favorite stores. Is that heavenly or what. The or what part came because I got to find my own way back to the hotel after that. I felt empowered that I could do it. I stopped at Daimaru Department store food court for a bento box for my dinner.

This video shows what the food court looks like. I ended up getting dinner here a few times.

You could get anything from the exotic and mysterious to fried chicken and chocolates.

When I was in Japan, I was hot to have some indigo dyed fabric. I love fabric in general, and Japanese indigo is very valuable because it strengthens the fabric, makes it insect repellent and is so beautiful.

Now, if I did splurge and buy a length of fabric, I would have problems cutting it up, to make something out of it.

When I was at Abeke House, there were four Japanese ladies traveling together. They were very kind to me, including me in the conversation, making sure I understood what I needed to, praising me for knowing how to eat a whole fish and use chopsticks, making jokes and being excellent companions.

Earlier, I had given my host a gift of Kona coffee. I heard one of the four ladies say in Japanese – Kona kohi -(koh-hee  – sp?) . By her animation, I could tell she appreciated it’s great taste. So I gave them a bag of Kona coffee too.

She then gave me this:

It’s a piece of indigo made into a tissue holder and the opening is shaped like a cat. I love it.

The inside is lined with a piece of recycled kimono silk.

Now I have a piece of indigo fabric, I don’t have to decide what to make with it and it reminds me of one of my favorite evenings.

What is one of your favorite gifts?

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

Today is the first day I’ve gotten back to getting up with the sun. Finally no more jet lag.

Today I put these hand spun and woven mulberry sheets from Gungendo on my bed. I’ve been carrying them around to show people. I did get to sleep on some in Omori and it was delicious. Maybe my jet lag would have been gone sooner if I slept on these sooner – hmm.

A friend Gail from my water aerobics class came upon these used writer’s books and thought of me. She carried them around in her car while I was traveling. Wasn’t that thoughtful of her?

Ooh, I had coffee in my new Bizen pottery coffee cup.

And I am over 20,000 words into Nanowrimo, so I am in good shape there. Write or Die is a great aide to writing. You set it for a time and a word count and type right on their site. If you slow down the screen changes color and if you still don’t write, awful sounds come on. You can set it on evil mode where it starts erasing letters if you don’t write. I don’t go that far.  Some of my best writing happens when I just keep going and disengage the thinking.

Have your best Friday ever. I toast you with my coffee.

Nanowrimo Starts

Hooray it’s Nanowrimo time. I’m still in Japan and won’t start typing until I get home in three days. No worries. I usually aim for 2 to 3,00 words a day and 5K on weekends.

Today, I’ll be traveling to Shikoku Island. They have a lot of pilgrim trails there. I don’t expect to be walking any of them this time. One thing that impressed me is that people here plant fruit trees along the pilgrim trail so people walking along can have something to eat without carrying it.

*

I love this idea and the oneness of it. May you find what you need as you walk along today.

Erika also has a new contest for blog writers here. It’s a brilliant idea and enough to make one feel good. Erika talks about her inspiration for the contest that came from Mommy On The Spot blog where there are some very touching posts: the kind of humanness that is so endearing and lets us know we are not alone.

I’m very happy because i e-mailed a friend explaining where I am with our relationship.

*

Then I obsessed and worried. Every time it came up, which was often, I said a prayer for us.

*

I used to be such a people pleaser. Lately, especially this year. I’ve been pleasing myself. It is very interesting to see who is left standing.

*

My friend understood. She said that kind of openness from me is what she was wanting.

*

Oh joy. Now I am flooded with how much she means to me and grateful that we have each other, and I have myself.

*

P.S. Yesterday I told my husband I was enjoying our breakfast time together. He said,

Yes, we’re in morning together.

*

Have your best week ever.
