Traveling

Hi All,

Last night I spent with about twenty classmates. It was such a joy to be with people I have history with, people who have similar values.

I hope you all get to reunite with old friends some time.

It is so enjoyable to be away from my usual routines and see what surprises show up.

Have your best day ever.

Two Awards

*

This neat button was made by Becky. I received this award from Panda Box 33.

The Rules for the award are:

1. Thank the person who gave you this award

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic! (in no particular order…)

4. Contact the bloggers you’ve picked and let them know about the award.

Seven things about me are:

OMG, I wrote this and when I went to preview it, It was so boring. Here goes take #2.

1.  I have an hourglass figure. The waist has become thickened – hence my participation in From Muffin Top To Skinny Jeans.

2. Every time someone pays it forward, we all benefit.

3. Grandchildren are magical beings and everyone is a grandchild.

4. Flowers, trees and humans look beautiful in all stages of development.

5. Loving everything that happens to us makes it easier to bear – even if we are only pretending.

6. I am challenged with processing anger – partly because I think I am not supposed to get angry. With my husband I handle it very well, let it out and be done with it. Of course he has given me lots of practice. XD

7. I love the spatial beauty of a tree – how it stands there and claims it’s space and it’s unique growth pattern.

Wednesday Wisdom

Wednesday Wisdom

I’ve been wanting to come up with a meme. Here is my idea. It’s called Wednesday Wisdom.

*

When a friend said to me, “I want to tell you something, but you can’t tell anyone.” I replied then don’t tell me.

*

The friend said well, I’ll tell you anyway and proceeded to tell me about her challenges with another person.

*

A few minutes later the other person called and said, (honest to God), the same thing. “I want to tell you something but you can’t tell anyone.”  Again I said, then don’t tell me. She said, well, I’ll tell you anyway. She proceeded to tell me about her challenges with the other person.

*

I think each of them wanted me to be on ‘their’ side.

*

Gossiping is something I avoid, even or especially when I find myself wanting to tell a third party about someone who I perceive has ‘wronged’ me. Tell the person who ‘wronged’ you. It’s the more direct way to get some resolution.

*

Neither of those two friends has ever said that to me again. If they did, I think I would say don’t tell me. period end of story.

*

My next level of challenge is to say straight out to the person, “Are you trying to involve me in gossip?” I have avoided that statement so far out of fear of offending the other person. Enough already. I realize I would want someone to stop me if I were gossiping.

WEDNESDAY WISDOM and FROM MUFFIN TOP TO SKINNY JEANS

Wednesday Wisdom

I’ve been wanting to come up with a meme. Here is my idea. It’s called Wednesday Wisdom.

*

KISS Keep It Simple Sweetie.

*

I’ve loved this idea since I first heard it. I was attracted to my husband partly because he knows how to keep things simple.

*

Here are my best thoughts on the subject.

*

Have you heard the story about the man living on the beach with a small boat.? An industrious type walks up to him and says, “You could advertise and take people out fishing. You could gradually buy more boats and become quite wealthy at it.”

*

Then man on the beach said and then what?

*

The Industrious one  said, then you could eventually retire and live comfortably on the beach.

*

The man said but I have that now.

*

Sometimes I think oh, I could do this or that to earn money. I like it better when I think what else can I get rid of and not have to take care of? I have a goal to leave my things in order and at a minimum when I die.

*

What do I have an abundance of that I can share? The produce from my garden, the rocks that my land is covered with, my writing, my loving and caring.

*

Have I showed gratitude and given back to the ‘source” today? I like to tithe to the source of my teachings. I often think on an ideal day I would meditate for 1/10th of the day. (1 hour and 24 minutes.)  Once my family was coming to visit and I looked around and saw that everything was in order. Usually when guests come I rush around and go through a lot of stress.  This time because I had been doing a lot of spiritual exercises, I was good to go.

*

I’d love to hear what you have found works in keeping things simple? XD

*

Short Mama at Family Of Shorts started this meme and I want in. I want the results.

*

How did you do on our first month of the journey?

*

The first week I chose to walk/jog three times a week and do water aerobics three times a week. It was so helpful that I committed to that because then when I wanted to cop out I didn’t.  My weight has stayed the same.  My waist is down 1/2 inch. I think for me my diet and calories in are okay, can keep tweaking them a little but increasing exercise is where it’s at. I have gotten so I can jog straight for 30 minutes now.

Were you able to stay on track with the 3 simple changes you chose in our first challenge?

*

No, I’ve changed around and lost focus.  The second week I wrote my post early and assumed we would pick three different things so I did. Then my committment got ‘fuzzy.’  My new committment is to do the same exercising including walking to water aerobics, but when listening to my body I can take off one extra day a week if I need to.

My second thing is to leave off the Japanese tea sweets.

My third thing is to do strength training a minimum of once a week, ideally twice.

*

Are there adjustments that you can see you need to make in order to continue to be successful at winning this battle of losing weight?

*

I need to be very careful about the junk food carbs. I need to go easy on the increasing exercise and listen to my body, to be extra careful about avoiding injury. I need to continue to be sure I have cold unsweetened tea available.

Thank you ShortMama for this meme. I am optimistic.

HONEST SCRAP

Diary Of A Fickle White Woman nominated me for this award. It means I get to write ten honest factoids about myself.

I previously won this award In February. So here are a few additional things about me.

!. My father is 94 years old and still sharp as a tack mentally. I hope I get there and beyond.

2. I just successfully completed Script Frenzy for the first time. That means I wrote 100 pages of Script during the month of April. The type of scripting I ended up doing is writing  graphic novels. I adapted two of my novels into a 24 page comic book and an 80 page graphic novel. I think this is working well for me as a media. I think visually and totally enjoyed doing it.

*

3. I am now able to gently jog for 30 minutes straight. I do an hour of water aerobics while treading water three times a week. And now thanks to my new neighbor I am walking two miles round trip to water aerobics. I need a nap.

4. My garden is coming along. I have beets, chard, tomatoes, peppers, garlic and edible chrysanthemums growing.

5.  I am looking forward to seeing what I can do by way of illustrating my comics after I finish adapting the next two of my novels.

6.  I love simplifying my life. I am looking forward to getting rid of things. Today I mailed four Japanese tea cups to my daughter.

7. I didn’t crochet till this year. I love to make Lei. *

I am on my fourth restart to make a crochet Navajo blanket. I think I got it this time.

*

My nominations for this award are the last five  people that left comments.

Feel Good Friday And Flash Back Friday.

The Girl Next Door Grows Up
Blog started this Feel Good Friday thing. Here’s how to do it – pick one of her prompts and write about it on your blog!

*

Five things that really made me happy this week were:

*

!.  I caught up all the pages I lost in Script Frenzy. I’ve got 90 pages written and should complete 100 today. I expect to keep going to 140 to finish.
*
2.  A year ago another writer and I started a writer’s group. It has far surpassed my expectations. I feel very bonded with the other writers, similar to how I feel with all of you.
*
3. I started out walking at the beach for 35 minutes and then jogging/walking and this week I gently jogged the whole time,  woo hoo.
*
4. I know better than to judge, but I was still challenged to forgive 2 people. This week when I was forgiving myself for judging myself and forgetting that I am divine, I realized that they are divine too. Then I further realized I was judging God and how he made them. I am at a new level of acceptance and am very grateful.
*
5.  I love being in my garden and eating fresh vegetables right out of it. I learned this week that I can dry beet leaves and Swiss chard. I am so excited that I can take them with me when I travel  and add greens to soup.  XD

*
6. OH my I got to see one of the WordPress Surprises. WooHoo.

*
*
*

Flash Back Friday

Here’s a second Friday post because I wanted to join the meme of Jennifer at My Crazy LIfe
*
My flash back started in the grocery store when I went to buy eggs. I remembered my grandmother always had brown eggs. I bought brown eggs today.
*
My grandparents lived over a candy store. Can you believe that? I don’t remember getting to eat excessive amounts of candy. I do remember being in there and getting candy dots on strips of paper and tiny metal pie pans that came with a tiny spoon. The pan was filled with a Carmel kind of sweet.
*
Have your best week ever.

Suprise Me Feature.

Since hearing about the Surprise Me Feature and enabling it. I have to try it out.

*

I first read about it on PandaBox33’s blog. She quotes a NY times article about it.

*

Enough already. I’m pushing publish now.

*

Nothing happened. Was that the surprise?

*

Addendum When I posted today April 23,  an uplifting video clip came on screen. It was of the Hoff flying off a bike and through the air. Woo hoo. XD

Feel Good Friday

The Girl Next Door Grows Up
Blog started this Feel Good Friday thing. Here’s how to do it –

Step 1:
Pick one of these prompts and write about it on your blog! You can:

  • Just make a list. List 5 things that made you really happy this week. No matter how bad or boring you think your week was, I bet you can find 5 things.
  • Write about something that happened to you this week that really made you smile. Was it your child, husband, or maybe a complete stranger did to you?
  • Write about something that YOU did for someone else that really made them happy or laugh.
  • Is there something you treasure so much that every single time you look at it, it brings you happiness? Post a pic and tell everyone about it.
  • Having a hard week and can’t find one good thing about it? Well then, what is your happy place? What do you think of that makes you happy? A past vacation? A childhood memory? We want to know!

Step 2:
Go back to Girl Next Door’s Blog and link up with Mister Linky’s Magical Widgets. Then go and read at least one other blog and leave them a comment to make their day brighter.

Step 3:
Have fun. Feel good. Smile.

For my birthday last month, my daughter gave me this book. It’s a humorous mystery by Thea Phipps called Charades With A Lunatic.

It made me lol. Do not bring this book with you to read in a quiet place. I brought it to my doctor’s office and I kept laughing out loud. There is nothing wrong with that, but people started looking at me funny.

Once again I had pages of notes and I was determined to guess the mystery. I didn’t, even though the author, Thea Phipps plays fair with her readers. I think I fell for every red herring.

The author’s humor is at it’s best for me when she is describing people’s actions in a scene and the visual is a crack up.

I also appreciate her descriptions. On page 148 she writes”…as out of place…as a frosted bonbon in a cat’s litter box.” and ” …false eyelashes ringed her eyes like squatting tarantulas.”

The ending was more than completely satisfying. And Thea has a sequel out already, The Doll In The Wall.
