Feel Good Friday

The Girl Next Door Grows Up started this Feel Good Friday meme. See lia sophia’s blog, ( the current hostess) for the Mclinky.

My happy day included receiving size 50 knitting needles in the mail. I won them in an auction on eBay. I love using e-snipe to minimize bidding wars.

In two hours I got 1/3 of a baby blanket finished —

And in 20 minutes I can make an eyelash lei —

I am having fun and it gets better. Soon I’ll be getting my first circular knitting needles.

Have your best day ever!

So many good things have been happening. Did you see this? OMG!

On a separate note, Holly over at Holistic Wellness With Holly Worton. had this post and my week has been so joyous since I took up her suggestion. Her posts are very good. I see them as a treat for myself and I am savoring my way through them. This one, it came at just the right time for me or something. Read it for yourself and See if it works for you too.

For me it catapulted me into doing more things I love, and one of my favorite side effects is I am too busy and happy to overeat.

Have your best week ever!

A day to be grateful – my prayers go to all the earth and the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

I’m grateful that there wasn’t more damage here in Hawaii, and for calls and messages of concern. It’s a bittersweet Feel Good Friday. Sad, and yet the loving is brought very present.

Thank you all. Bless us all.

My friend gave me these flowers for my birthday.
they last a long time. The flower pot was a gift form my aunt a few years a go. I love it.

At the beach I was surprised to see wild turkeys. We have them in our village but not usually at the beach. I saw a couple –

Then I noticed a baby –

Then another baby –

The second baby was limping and then I saw why his parents were leaving him – a mongoose was after him. I chased the mongoose away instead of photographing him, but I think the baby was doomed. I guess it’s a good Friday for the mongoose.

I finished two blankets, one for a grandaughter –

And one for a new baby –

I’m loving this edging I learned how to do.

I started with a new alternative health care provider this week and my sinuses are open and I am not being irrtated by sounds – halelujah.

Have your best week ever.

So many good things happened this week.

First, I got to spend a long weekend with my son in Honolulu. It was excellent and I had cheesecake too.

Second, I received this beautiful necklace as a gift from Deci at Gem Trails. I think it’s so beautiful and I love the clasp as much as the butterfly beads.

Third, Jen at Hamster Central is preparing for a solo exhibition in Japan. She sent me one of her postcard announcements. You can see a picture of it here. I love faces and I love it.

Fourth,  I got myself to the beach today to exercise and a lady gave me this.

She said, she picks up heart shaped things and this coral heart was for me. Is this a good day or what?

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY – Projections

The thing that made me happiest this week was odd.

*

Last week I went ballistic when, in my perception, my husband negated my experience. I was raving.

Then a  writer I know, had her booklet translated into Japanese by her son’s girlfriend. Oh, I wanted that for my novel. Maybe it could be a hit in Japan. It’s about … well here’s the pitch –

Koh, is a boy kidnapped as a toddler by a rainforest band that has unique customs and world view. Koh, fascinated by strange people who live near the mountain, struggles to find where he really belongs and overcome strict taboos.

These include: remaining unseen, bypassing capture by warring bands, coping with betrayal by his peers and facing death. Eventually he comes to reunion with the family he doesn’t remember.

I didn’t even tell my husband and I went and asked the writer to ask the girlfriend if she would consider translating my book. Then I set to wondering how to pay for it, a lifetime supply of lei, my firstborn…

Alas, the girl said no; it takes too much time. She did it as a labor of love.

I wasn’t even upset, I felt elated and do you know why? Normally, I would have talked myself out of asking. I WOULD HAVE NEGATED MY DESIRE. And that is why I got so upset, when I perceived my husband as negating my experience because that’s what I do to myself. I am so happy, all I have to do is not negate myself any more and not project it on others.

Wonder what I will be like when I  deal with the gazillion other things I am projecting on him and others. : )

What makes me happy today? Well I get to go to the beach and jog a little and crochet, then I go to an art  group and work on the cover for my novel.

I finished my granddaughter’s zebra blanket and will mail it off in time for her birthday.

All my Christmas stuff is packed away, (I know), and I even mended the wise man’s hand and Santa’s foot and an angel that had been broken for years. So what could be better? Well, actually how about a 6 foot tall pop up tree. You open it out and a fully decorated tree pops up. Then it folds flat to put it away.

Lastly, I’ve been wanting to give back something and last Wednesday I started writing a series of posts about creating abundance. It’s scary because I am so exposed. It’s what I have to share with the world. Gee, I hope the posts will be easier to write than this is.

Have your best Friday ever!

Truth is, I was being weighed down by feelings of inadequacy. I felt too negative to post. Now, I just did a little get myself back together exercise I do, and I realize I was thinking that being negative is a catastrophe. As if my mother has her head in a guillotine and the blade will fall and cut off her head if I am bad.

And then I grouse at dh and judge my neighbors and myself and put pressure on myself to be perfect.

Luckily, my mother is safe. She died years ago.

And lucky, I forgive myself and realize, I am a spiritual being having a human experience and we humans do this stuff. This one does anyway.

So, no outer circumstances have changed, yet the world seems sunny again and I’m off to our local Cherry Blossom festival.

My feel good Friday a day late, not a dollar short, I hope.

Have your best weekend ever.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

Five things that I feel happy about this week are:

1. 50% of my husband’s co-workers were laid off last Friday and he wasn’t. Hurray! I like the lifestyle he spoils me with.

2. I won two books from Dollycas‘s Thoughts. She does a lot of book reviews and has a lot of giveaways. She also is interesting, kind, thoughtful and one of my favorite bloggers. She has so many giveaways, I knew I was going to win sometime. Yay!

3. My grandaughter’s room is zebra and pink. When I found some zebra yarn I had to make her a blanket. Did you know there are lots of how to’s about fixing dropped stitches and they all talk about stitches you drop and find while you are knitting. I found my dropped stitches after I nearly finished a full size blanket. One thing I love about knitting is the uniform look of the stitches. Mine were out of uniform. After I repaired them, they were glaring mistakes to me.

Since I’m more of a salvage things rather than take them apart and redo them kind of person, I decided to crochet chains the length of the blanket where the mistakes were.

A new design. Once I crochet a border, it will be done. Yay!

4. I ‘took offense’ from an acquaintance of mine. Clearly she was in error, until I looked closely. When I am in a good place, nothing bothers me. I realize I needed to fill me up. Now I’m grateful that it came up as a reminder to me.

5. Two of my favorite blog writers shared about feeling inadequate. They are people who write very well and give me a challenge not to  compare myself  with them. I would lose in all the areas they are so excellent at. It would never occur to me that they could feel that way. Another ‘lightbulb moment’ reminder to me. I am excellent at being me. Am I using the word excellent too much, that’s what we people who used to be hung up on perfection use instead of perfectionist terms. Muhaha.

Did you have an excellent week?

My first thought for this post was to look outside myself for something that made me happy, like hearing back from a publisher, ( which didn’t happen.) Then it occurred to me to look inside myself and there was a photo of a little boy reading a book I gave him. He was totally engrossed and it made me very happy to see him enjoying it so much.

It reminded me of my childhood when I discovered books and all the joys in them.

Do you love to get lost in a good book?
